Purpose
This project purpose is the technological innovation by developing a methodology for cryopreservation of sea urchin (Echinometra lucunter) eggs and blastulas.
Specific Purposes
- Testing different cryoprotective agents (CPA) to obtain their best concentration and combination, based on toxicity, for cryopreservation of eggs and blastulas that can be used in ecotoxicological tests;
- Using the best CPA concentration and combination for developing a preliminary cryopreservation protocol;
- Performing ecotoxicological tests using cryopreserved eggs and blastulas to develop and standardize a new ecotoxicological test protocol, thus innovating the existing process.
